Techsauce Global Summit 2018

Techsauce Media Co, Thailand’s leading technology-oriented content provider, announced on February 22, 2018 that it will host its third annual international technology conference on June 22 and 23, 2018. The event is considered Southeast Asia’s biggest technology conference, aimed at connecting tech ecosystems in the region together with a range of global tech players, such as Techstars, to share their experience. It also highlights the key trends – AgTech, FoodTech, HealthTech, Living Tech and EnergyTech – which will help support better life and create social impact.

Chief executive and co-founder Oranuch Lerdsuwankij said its third edition will take place at Centara Grand at Central World. The Summit is aimed at raising the bar for technology ecosystems across Thailand and the countries in Southeast Asia. Knowledge sharing and networking among entrepreneurs, investors and stakeholders in the event are expected to bring tangible changes into the industry.

More than 200 key speakers around the world, ranging from CEOs, investors and technology specialists will attend the event to share their thoughts and experiences. For instance, David Brown, co-founder of Techstars, the world’s leading accelerator house, Joseph Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum, the world’s hottest Cryptocurrency exchange platform and Mike Peng from IDEO Tokyo.

This year, Techsauce Global Summit is overwhelmingly sponsored by Thailand’s leading corporations, of which Siri Ventures Co, True Digital Park, PTT Plc, Advance Info Service Plc, Line Company (Thailand), dtac accelerate, Digital Ventures Co by SCB, Muang Thai Insurance Plc, AddVentures by SCG and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), etc.

Ms. Oranuch said: “This year we want to see the extensive use of technology in other industries, particularly in food and agriculture sector, where Thailand plays a crucial role in the global stage. A huge chunk of Thai population is in the sector. Food and agriculture technology (FoodTech and AgTech) will make radical changes by adding more value into commodity products, generating more revenue and make a better life eventually.

In addition, health, wellness and energy should be empowered by technology, which will lift the quality of life and make positive social impact.

Bringing the extensive use of technology into people’s lives is very essential, which will bridge the gap in the society and help develop the country to the next level. AgTech, FoodTech or HealthTech need to be focused on as we have seen in many countries, where they held very specific tech fairs, said Ms.Oranuch.

Techsauce Global Summit 2018 has a total of 10 stages, divided into 2 groups. First, topics on social technologies for enterprises, which range from AgTech&FoodTech, HealthTech, LivingTech to FinTech. This is expected to encourage businesses, startup and technology enthusiasts to join a task force of social change.

The other group will keep you updated on the state of the art technology, giving you a broader view of what happens in the innovation world, which covers startup, venture capital (VC), deep tech showcase and head-to-the-future, blockchain and cryptocurrency, AR&VR as well as data science and AI. This will enable stakeholders in startup industry to catch up with technological trends with more than 200 topics from 10 stages.

Ms. Oranuch added: “Apart from seminar, there are many more key activities, such as business matching, the final round of startup’s investor pitch deck from more than 20 countries across Asia and Oceania continent. Amidst the rapid pace of technological changes that fundamentally shaped industries, we expect that the Summit would lure more than 10,000 attendants, up 40% compared to last year, thanks to the rising numbers of startups launched by domain experts”.

Thailand’s technology ecosystem is in the transition period with exponential growth of market value. Investors have realized the ultimate objective of joining in the startup bandwagon and sought the right model to invest in the industry. In recent years, Thai big corporates have joined the startups sphere by setting up their own venture capital (CVC). Moreover, it predicts that a number of foreign startups penetrating into Thai and Southeast Asia market will be increased, which comes along with a vast number of inventions, such as green technology. Importantly, Chinese startups will play a key role in intensifying competitiveness by offering new technologies.

Techsauce Global Summit 2018 is designed for startups, technology enthusiasts and those companies who are going towards digital transformation. For further information and ticket buying, please browse https://summit.techsauce.co.

[Greeting Card] Happy New Year 2018

Khmer New Year 2017 Card by Chamnan Muon

If asked, how many days in 2016? It was 366 days, right? So, how about in 2017? In 2017, it will be 365 days a year which equals to 8760 hours. Everyone has the same days and times, and the time will not stop, it always flies from one year to another one. Looking back to last year, what I have done for myself, my family and country, and within this year what will I plan to do?

The answer .... will be not shared here :-).

Let me move to what I should say for Cambodian New Year 2017.

As my country's official religion, Buddhist, and based on beliefs, the angel of the Year of the Monkey 2016 will transfer her duties to the angel of the Rooster 2017 that this year will be celebrating on April 14, 2017.

To take this valuable opportunity, I would like to say Happy Khmer New Year 2017 to all Cambodian people and the rest of the world, and wish you all the best for the upcoming Cambodian New Year 2017 to all my friends, colleague, families, beloved readers, and people in the world. Please, the Year of the Rooster's angel wishes all be blessed with a peaceful and prosperous living for the whole year through.
The holiday lasts for three days beginning on New Year's Day, which falls on April 14 to 16 this year, that is the end of the harvesting season, when farmers enjoy the fruits of their labor before the rainy season begins. These three days called Maha Songkran for first day, Virak Wanabat for second day, and Virak loeurng Sak for final day.

Places where I plan to visit?

Almost every Khmer New Year's days, I always plan to visit my homeland in Battambang province, the northwestern of Cambodia. Have you gone to visit there? If you are interested, you can check out this article 'The Beauty of Battambang City'.

I think not only me but also most Cambodian people who have come for study or work in the capital, Phnom Penh, will plan to travel back to their homelands to meet their families, relatives, and friends during these 3-day holidays.

Oh, if you gonna plan to visit our well-known historical site, Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, you could go see a big event, แžขแž„្แž‚แžšแžŸแž„្แž€្แžšាแž“្แž แž†្แž“ាំแŸขแŸ แŸกแŸง - Angkor Sankranta 2017. It has been celebrated every year since 2013.

You may need to book a bus? Check out this online bus ticket booking!

Watch the promotional video below:

Keep updates on the official Facebook page.

So, where will you plan? If you still stay in Phnom Penh, you should go to join Sangkranta Wat Phnom at Wat Phnom Historical Site from April 14 - 16, 2017. Check out the promotional video on the Facebook Page of Phnom Penh City Hall.

My message for this year?

Yeah, it is what I have almost every year to keep some messages for myself as well as for my beloved readers like you. So, what are they?
  • Never give up on what I love doing: It is the same point as last year. The true is that people should do what they love, not only profitable or community-based activities, even though they challenge some problems, they gonna keep doing and doing, never say 'I have to give up'. Saying so, it is really easy, right? To do, it is NOT easy but it does not mean that everyone cannot do it. Do you think so?
  • Let change, and keep moving: When heard the word 'change', it would be .... what it means to you? I cannot change this or that, why I have to change it ... I am in the comfortable zone now :-). It will be hard to hear on what someone told you in a bad feedback but if it is in a constructive one, it would be a bit easy to accept and change it, right? Personally, for me, both of them I always need it, listen to them because only that person who frankly speaks about it to you. If it is good for you why not start changing on the points. Changing in the proper way is the BEST to make it in order to jump out of the box.
  • Free to smile, and always be positive: Smiling is FREE but it is not easy to make it from the bottom of your heart unless you are ready to do that. Try to do it day by day if you are not used to it. While doing that, it is really fresh and happy. Being positive is a MUST to do for me. For me, it is my nature, maybe, :-). No one is perfect on any area of life paths. Just try it, you will know, I am sure!.

Love travelling, and taking photos around the country during the holidays? Please help spread your useful comments and photos on Google Maps by joining Google Local Guides program to let other explorers know the best places before they plan to go there.

SEE ALSO: Happy New Year 2017

The messages above are just in the messages but ... to think and think, and to start taking action on it in order to make it come true. When it comes true, pleased do not hesitate to share it to other people too.
แžšីแž€แžšាแž™ แž†្แž“ាំแž្แž˜ី Rikreay Chhnam Thmei! Have a nice holiday!

First They Killed My Father - A Film by Angelina Jolie

After knowing the release announcement of Jailbreak movie - the biggest Cambodian action film at the end of this month that I have already planned to watch, now this new movie 'First They Killed My Father' which was directed by one of my favorite Hollywood actresses, Angelina Jolie, whom most of Cambodian movie-lovers also know well, I have to arrange my schedule to watch it in February.

Before getting to know the film a bit more, have you ever read a book 'First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers' by Ms. Loung Ung? If you did that is great but if not, and still interested, you can find it on Amazon. Honestly, I have never read it neither.

According to the official Facebook page, Netflix is proud to announce that the Cambodian premiere of the film will take place on 18th February in Cambodia. The premiere will be followed by other screenings around the country. Director Angelina Jolie is delighted to be returning to Cambodia, to fulfill her promise to premiere the film first for Cambodian people. The film, shot entirely in the Khmer language and with a Cambodian cast, was made for and by the Cambodian people. Angelina is looking forward to sharing this moment with them, alongside Loung Ung, whose story is told in the film, and her fellow producer Rithy Panh - his film 'The Missing Picture' got in the list of the 2014 Oscar Nominees.

About the Film
First They Killed My Father (or in Khmer: แž˜ុแž“แžŠំแž”ូแž„แž្แž˜ែแžšแž€្แžšแž แž˜ แžŸแž˜្แž›ាแž”់แž”៉ាแžšแž”แžŸ់แž្แž‰ុំ) is the adaptation of Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung’s gripping memoir of surviving the deadly Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1978. The story is told through her eyes, from the age of five, when the Khmer Rouge came to power, to nine years old. The film depicts the indomitable spirit and devotion of Loung and her family as they struggle to stay together during the Khmer Rouge years. The film was shot on location in Cambodia, between November 2015 and February 2016. It was filmed entirely in the Khmer language, and is the largest movie ever made in the country. The cast is made up entirely of Cambodian actors. Cambodian technicians, artisans and crafts people comprised the largest portion of the crew, along with more than 3,500 Cambodian background actors.
It is the largest movie ever made in the country, Cambodia.

Cambodia has become a part of film spot interested by the foreign filmmakers?. If you used to watch 'TRANSFORMERS 3 : Dark side of the moon', you would notice that part of the movie was shot at Angkor temple. Not only this foreign movie but also other ones such as Lara Croft : Tomb Raider, Almayer's Folly, Same Same But Different, The Sea Wall, City of Ghosts, Holy Lola, Two Brothers, R Point etc., according to The Cambodia Film Commission.
Recently, the number of local films have been produced more and more, and in those there is also action movie category, and I think that the action films gaining more popular nationwide among other categories but it still faced some challenges on finding the stunt team to support.

Are you a traveller or an explorer who likes helping others find the best spots in town, and making new friends around the world?

If yes, I personally recommend you to join a new Google's community program, Google Local Guides, which was publicly announced in the blog post on November 13, 2015.

Local Guides is a global community of explorers who share photos, answer local questions, add or fix places, and write reviews on Google Maps. Millions of people rely on contributions like yours to decide where to go and what to do.
If you are asking me any reasons to join this Google Local Guides? For me, I have five reasons to join:

1. Contribute to society
Since I have known the power of Google Maps, I always use it for my travel and then I have been starting to contribute in order to promote the local places thru adding new places, photos, reviews, and editing information, mostly in Cambodia, to the world. Helping others mean you help your society too.

2. Help others find the best places
As a local guide, I can help other people find where to go and what to do based on my own experiences, and not only I always help others but also they can help me find the best new places that I will plan to go and to do. Millions of people rely on contributions like mine to decide where to go and what to do.

The Beauty of Battambang City

Have you ever visited Battambang province? What are your places of interest?

Battambang located in the northwestern of Cambodia which contains 14 districts, 92 communes, and 800 villages. It is the second most popular city in the country after Phnom Penh. The provincial capital, also Battambang, has always been a popular destination for its nearby ancient temples, French colonial architecture, bamboo train, traditional Cambodian houses, Khmer Rouge period killing fields, and Buddhist shrines. Th town is at the heart of Cambodia's 'rice bowl', and it maintains an untouched, bucolic feel.

Places of interest include Phnom Sampeu, a hill with caves of Buddha statues; the 12th Century Prasat Snung, Wat Banan, an Angkorian temple now occupied as a Buddhist shrine; Wat Baydamram where thousands of fruit bats reside, Wat Ek Phnom, Kamping Puoy reservoir, and Banan grape-wine farms, according to the official tourism of Cambodia.

To show you as mentioned above, I have found two videos that showed the beauty of this city through normal and drone videography:

SEE ALSO: Phnom Penh Postal Codes

Video #1  titled 'The City of Battambang - Memory of the Old Time' that made by @homePhotography & Media Professional Studio. The places were highlighted such as Maison Wat Kor Boutique Hotel, Provincial Hall, Provincial National Bank, Sangke River, Phsar Nath Market, Grape Farm, and Bamboo train, Nori. Watch it out!

Video #2 titled 'Battambang Adventures by Drone' that made by MyAirControl. The highlighted places include Lok Ta Dambang Kronhoung, Sangke River, Provincial Hall, Phsar Nath Market, Rice Field, Banan Temple, Phnom Sampov, Wat Damrey Sor, and Bamboo train, Nori. Watch it out!

Sharing the beauty of city through words and videos are not enough, so you should go and get experienced there by yourself.

Cambodian Action Film 'Jail Break'

For recently years, Cambodian movie industry has gained more popularity among the country after the Ministry of Information ordered bans the broadcast of any foreign-made film between the hours of 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and was intended “to restore Cambodian culture and Khmer movies”, according to Radio Free Asia.

Seeing this trend, local filmmakers have been working hard to produce the qualified movies to fit national and international markets. If asking you what kind of Cambodian movies would you expect to watch: documentary, drama, comedy, adventure, romance, history, action, crime, horror, thriller etc.? For me, I like watching action films (Hollywood-made, Chinese-made, and Thai-made …), and this chance I wish to watch Cambodia-made ones as well.

Luckily, I had watched one film, Hanuman, produced by Kongchak Pictures – it is the Cambodia’s first action movie. So, what will be the next one to watch in the upcoming year, 2017?

Kongchak Pictures in association with Puprum Entertainment, a new startup company founded by two biggest film distributors: Sabay Digital Corporation and Westec Media Limited, have worked together for the action comedy adventure, JAILBREAK, which may do well for Cambodia comparing to regional neighbors.
What started as a simple escort mission will soon turn to chaos as the prisoners of Koh Kla take over the prison grounds. Five special task force officers trapped in the building will have to fight their way out for survival, as they wait for backup to come.
The film will be casting by Dara Our, star of Khmer first action movie Hanuman as well as Father’s Treasure, Before the Fall and The Forest Whispers. His co-lead is the Hollywood-level Jean Paul Ly, his action credits include stunt and fight work on Lucy, Now You See Me 2, Grimsby, 24, Streetfighter and more, recently Cuckoo. The other casts include Tharoth Sam, the first female Bokator Fighter to make it into the MMA League and winner of the One FC MMA Tournament in 2014, and Savin Phillip, who is also cast in Hanuman. It will be directed by Jimmy Henderson with estimated release in 2017.

For more information about this movie, please keep in touch on the official Facebook page here.

Cambodian New Year Card 2016
Khmer New Year Card 2016 by Chamnan
Time is fast to move from one year to one year. The angel of the year of the Goat 2015 will transfer her duties to the angel of the Monkey 2016 that will be celebrating on April 13, 2016. To take this valuable chance, I would like to say Happy Khmer New Year 2016 to all Cambodian people and the rest of the world, and wish you all the best for the upcoming Cambodian New Year 2016 to all my friends, colleague, families, beloved readers, and people in the world. Please, the Year of the Monkey's angel wishes all be blessed with a peaceful and prosperous living for the whole year through.
The holiday lasts for three days beginning on New Year's Day, which falls on April 13 this year, which is the end of the harvesting season, when farmers enjoy the fruits of their labor before the rainy season begins. Khmers living abroad may choose to celebrate during a weekend rather than just specifically April 13 through 15. These three days called Maha Songkran for first day, Virak Wanabat for second day, and Virak loeurng Sak for final day.
Where Will You Plan to Visit?
Before the New Year, most Cambodian, including myself, will travel to homelands to meet families, relatives, and friends. And after they do good things for their families, they will plan to visit nearby tourism sites or interesting points. The most provinces where they plan to spend their 3-day holidays are:
  • Temple trip: Siem Reap is the best place to visit temples such as Angkor Wat and biggest cultural event so-called Angkor Sankranta, and Battambang and Pailin are also under their considerations for a waterfall, mountain, and rice field views.
  • Coastal/Seaside trip: Sihanoukville, Kampot, Kep, and Koh Kong – these are good choice to visit nice beaches, island, and fresh seaside.
  •  Nearby Phnom Penh City: Some of the people who has families in Phnom Penh, they consider to eat out nearby restaurants or visit the waterfall in Kirirom resort in Kampong Speu province, and sometimes they go to seaside trip too.

Are you looking for a whole year of Cambodian public holiday 2016 or other ASEAN countries? If so, please check out this article.

I think not only Cambodian who plan to visit Angkor Wat but also foreigners, so I share with you about Angkor Sankranta (แžขแž„្แž‚แžšแžŸแž„្แž€្แžšាแž“្แž) as the following:

Almost every year, I always keep some messages for myself as well as for my beloved readers. So, what is it?
  • Keep doing goodness for society even it is not seen: I always tell myself that human is different so please don’t try others to be yours – just keep trying to solve a social problem for society. Others may not see what you have done good things for your beloved country but you yourself can see it.
  • Never give up on what you love to do: It is true that people have to do what they love, so even though she or he faces any problems, they still keep trying. Sooner or later, you will get what you need.

The message is still the message to keep thinking but the action is a must to do!
